On the 7th October 2021, Mbale City will host the 2021 Uganda Coffee Day for the first time ever. The event that is organised by the Uganda Coffee Federation and Uganda Coffee Development Authority will be a part of the celebration of the 7th International Coffee Day.
This year’s theme of Uganda Coffee Day will be: ‘A Celebration of Arabica and the Mount Elgon Coffees” and will be held in the Shadow of the Mountain.
Mount Elgon is an extinct shield volcano on the border of Uganda and Kenya with rich fertile soils, ample for Arabica coffee growing. The mountain’s highest point is “Wagagai”. It is believed that Mount Elgon is 24 million years old making it the oldest extinct volcano in East Africa. The Bagishu and Sebei predominately people are native to this beautiful mountain which also has a reputation for producing Olympic Medal-winning long-distance Athletes.
The day’s activities will include Key Note Speeches from industry leaders, Launch of the Drink Uganda Coffee Month, Panel discussion on the day’s theme, Producer, Input & Machinery Industry Exhibition Area, and huge networking opportunities.
